How to save a PDF
If you would like to save the page you’re viewing as a PDF document, here are the steps:
- Click icon with 3 stacked dots
/ or lines to the right of the URL bar at the top of your browser - Select the “Print” option
- A pop up window like this one should appear, ensure the Destination field is set to “Save as PDF” (this may be a dropdown or “Change” button)
- Click “Save,” then select the location and name for the file on your computer

Each year, the League of Minnesota Cities provides elected city officials the core knowledge you need to succeed and become a city leader who can meet challenges, act as a good steward of city resources, and advocate on behalf of residents. Programming is educational, non-partisan, and packed with opportunities to network with other city officials, LMC staff, and subject matter experts.

Newly Elected Leaders
New to office? This program is designed for newly elected officials with fewer than two years of experience. Build the knowledge and skills you need to understand local government and succeed in your role.

Designed for elected officials with more than two years of experience, this program helps you strengthen your leadership skills and build on your experience in local government. Practice leading productive meetings, prioritizing civility and community engagement, addressing misinformation, and communicating effectively while leading your city.

Mayors Program: Inspiring Confidence with Executive Presence
Special session — mayors only: Add this 90-minute session to your Elected Leaders Institute experience and strengthen your executive presence. Executive presence is the ability to inspire confidence through how you communicate, listen, make decisions and carry yourself — especially when the pressure is on.
NEW: Leadership Certificate for Elected Officials
Start earning credits at the Elected Leaders Institute.
Strong city leadership starts with continued learning. The Leadership Certificate for Elected Officials recognizes Minnesota city elected officials who invest in building their knowledge, strengthening their skills, and staying connected to the resources they need to serve their communities. This free, voluntary program gives you the opportunity to earn credit for participating in eligible League of Minnesota Cities learning opportunities and events.
Participating in one of the Elected Leaders Institute programs is a required component of the Leadership Certificate for Elected Officials. You can earn:
Elected Leaders Institute: Newly Elected Leaders (15 credits)
Elected Leaders Institute: Next-Level Leaders (10 credits)
- Mayors Program (2 credits)
