Each community is different, but most rely on city staff, law enforcement, building inspectors, animal control, and public works to enforce code. Clerks who are responsible for code enforcement respond to inquiries and complaints regarding code issues. Enforcing a city’s many nuisances and zoning-related codes and administering a city’s structure and property maintenance code can be complex. In this mini-course, you will learn the basics of enforcing code.
By completing this mini-course, you will:
- Identify four of the main ways to enforce the city code.
- Prioritize methods of enforcing city ordinances.
- Recognize the importance of the rights of the property owner.
- Access additional resources for handling code enforcement.
