Take the Survey: What Are the Barriers to a Career in Public Service?
Encourage your city employees to participate in the survey and share their valuable feedback on this project.
The League of Minnesota Cities and the Association of Minnesota Counties are partnering with Citizens League to conduct research and community engagement to explore the unique challenges and barriers to public service careers in Minnesota. The work will also focus on identifying practical, community-led solutions to strengthen and support a robust public sector across the state.
In the first step of the research, Citizens League has prepared an online survey to collect feedback from individuals who are currently employed — or have previously been employed — by a local unit of government in Minnesota. This feedback is essential to ensuring the research encompasses a broad base of public sector employees throughout all department and levels.
We ask for your help in distributing it to all your city staff members. All the feedback will be anonymous and de-identified, and Citizens League will not share responses or attribute any personal information without explicit consent.
As part of this research, Citizen League also plans to conduct a series of community engagement meetings and convenings across Minnesota to engage a broad range of stakeholders and residents through small group discussions, individual interviews, and larger community meetings.
More information about the project, including information on the community engagement meetings once they are scheduled, is available on the Citizens League Strengthening Public Service webpage.
