This course will help all elected officials (as well as other city officials new to municipal government) understand the structure and function of cities. Participants will understand the types of cities that operate in the state of Minnesota, the implications for your role on the council, and the limitations of what cities can and cannot do.
By completing this course, you will:
- Learn about the different types of cities in Minnesota and their administrative structures.
- Understand how the different structures change your job as an elected official.
- Gain an understanding of how the different administrative structures dictate what you can and cannot do as a city.
