Boost Your City’s DEI Efforts with LMC
The League of Minnesota Cities wants to support cities in all areas of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) work and is currently offering resources and opportunities for all cities to implement inclusive practices. The League offers two new guides on how to have DEI conversations with elected officials and staff and how to start outlining a DEI plan. Members can also access these online learning courses through MemberLearn:
- Introduction to DEI
- Acknowledging Bias (Free!)
- Identifying Microaggressions (Free!)
- The CROWN Act (Free!)

21-Day DEI Challenge
The League launched a 5-day DEI learning challenge in April with over 300 participants. After the first challenge’s success, the League’s learning and DEI staff expanded the challenge to a 21-day course. The purpose of these challenges is to make learning about DEI-related topics convenient, accessible, and self-paced. Starting on October 28, 2024, participants will receive an email every weekday for 21 days, all with a different DEI topic and various resources to engage with by reading, watching, and listening. Registration is now open!
Leading with Intention in DEI: A Virtual Workshop
Stay tuned for this virtual event on December 4, 2024! This workshop will provide an educational session on conscious inclusion, an overview of resources that are available to cities, and networking opportunities to connect with and learn from other cities.
“As the DEI Coordinator, I want cities to feel like they can come to me for support no matter where their city is at with DEI,” Arianna Lee, LMC’s DEI coordinator, said. “This work is only successful when it is collaborative, and LMC wants to work with you and bridge connections with others.”
If there are ways the League can support you in this work, resources that would be helpful, or if you just want to talk through something, the League’s DEI coordinator wants to hear from you!
